Mayor “Mumbles” Menino

How the heck is this guy still Mayor of Boston? In this video “Mumbles” has some classic lines.

“In Boston we have an amazing set of remarkable athletes”: How he says this line is evidence of why he is nicknamed “Mumbles”. Awesome…

“…Whose actions <unclear – more mumbling> have become ionic.”: Ionic bonding is something students learn about in Chemistry class, not a speech on sports. Obviously he meant to use the word “iconic”… Hilarious stuff…

“Varitek splitting the uprights”: I’ve watched a lot of Patriots games and I’ve never seen Jason Varitek kick a field goal. Too funny…

The Freak Stats Page

The Freak statistic page is UP! Go here (look above next to “The Loop” etc.) to see the kid’s doings… and he’s doing really good this year…

The “Tim Lincecum for 2009 Cy Young Award” campaign has started! (Who am I kidding? This started before he threw his first pitch this year!)

It’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon…

Boston Red Sox : Opening Day

The Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Devil Dogs 5-3 today (opening day).

The AWESOME: Josh Beckett. 7 IP 1 ER 10 K’s. He looks like the Beckett of 2007, not 2008.

The VERY GOOD: Pedroia and Varitek both with Homah’s! Varitek went 1-4 but hit the ball squarely all 4 times.

The GOOD: Papelbon. 1 IP 2K’s and the Save. Also everyone got at least one hit today for Boston except for…

The NOT SO GOOD: Ellsbury. The table setter didn’t set anything on the table. Only one who didn’t get a hit.

The HILARIOUS: Carlos Pena of Tampa Bay who went 0-4 with 4 K’s.

Yes, it’s only the first game of the season… But these division games are important whether it’s the first or last game of the season. They matter when Tampa Bay, New York and Boston all are serious contenders for both the division title and the wild card for the AL.

Pablo Sandoval: SF Giants

Meet Pablo Sandoval: Soon to be a household name. Another star in the making. Go out and buy his baseball card if you don’t already have it!!! He is for real.

Last year in 41 games (145 at bats) he hit .345

This year in Spring Training he hit (in 80 at bats) .450 with 3 HR and 18 RBI

He (along with Ishikawa) will help give the Giants some offense that they lacked in the past couple years and help them make it to the playoffs this year.

Boston Celtics beat Cleveland Cavaliers 3/7/09

Did you watch this game last night?! It was on ESPN so if you didn’t SHAME ON YOU. The Celtics won 105-94. They won WITHOUT Kevin Garnett. This was honestly the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen. Look at the stats:

Free Throws:    Cleveland: 38  Boston: 12            Abomination!

I can hear some of you saying…”Well that’s because Boston didn’t take it to the rim. They only shot outside while Cleveland was more aggressive.” BULL! Let’s look at some more stats:

Points IN THE PAINT:           Boston: 58   Cleveland: 22

What about “King” Lebron? He was SHUT DOWN. 5-15 from the field. 4 turnovers. His 21 points were basically made up of foul shots (and we’ve already gone there!)… 9 of them.

Am I afraid of Cleveland knocking off Boston this year in the playoffs? Yes, I am. I’m not a homer to the point I can’t see things straight. But I think it won’t happen. Boston is much stronger this year than they were last year. Yes, Cleveland is better too but not to the extent that Boston is. Once Marbury gets into better shape and learns the plays and once Tony Allen, Scal and the Big Ticket all get healthy… The NBA will have to stop a freight train by the name of the Boston Celtics.

MLB2K9 Lincecum Commercial

Great commercial featuring the best pitcher in baseball: Tim Lincecum. He will dominate again this year and will win the Cy Young again if he stays healthy. I will be letting you all know how he does for each of his starts during the season so stay tuned to this blog!
