Sigur Ros will be releasing their new album Valtari later this month. Here is a song from it called Ekki Mukk. If you have ever heard Sigur Ros before you know that you need to listen to the entire song. It becomes a thing of beauty. Especially around 2:30 and on. Even as I type that I want to delete it. The whole thing is amazing.
Here’s a shameless plug:
From the forthcoming Christmas CD (untitled as of yet – Oct/Nov 2011):
Spread the word! Spread the love!
No need for explanation, just watch and listen to the entire piece:
What a great performance by the duo a couple nights ago! They played Stuck in a Moment acoustically. Bono was in fine form and so was the Edge…
A couple artists/bands to look into:
1.) Gabe Dixon:
If you are a fan of Billy Joel (Gabe’s music is piano based pop and his voice sounds very much like Billy Joel) then you will absolutely love this guy. His solo album “One Spark” comes out on August 23rd. The first single off the album is called “My Favorite” and it is a really solid song (it’s a song about him and his wife). Check out the video below:
2.) Sleeping at Last:
Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t heard about these guys until now. Their stuff is absolutely beautiful. Definitely look them up on grooveshark or youtube. You won’t be disappointed. If you like Radiohead, Sigur Ros, etc. then you’ll dig this.
This is a song by them called “Quicksand”. You can’t tell me that you’re not moved by this:
Augustana’s new cd (self-titled) came out a couple weeks ago and I’m loving it. It’s a near perfect pop album with some very strong songs on it. It’s by far their strongest offering yet. I would say that 8 out of 10 songs are above average. Listen to “On the Other Side”, “Counting Stars”, “Shot in the Dark” or “Just Stay Here Tonight” for starters. Go to http://grooveshark.com/#/ (one of my favorite all time sites) and listen to the songs (or any other songs) in their entirety.
